Find out how this simple injectable could take years off your appearance.

Botox TreatmentIt’s never too late to give your appearance a nice refresher or boost. Maybe you’ve been noticing certain lines and wrinkle creeping in and you want to nip the problem in the bud now. If so, our Wilmington, DE dermatologist Dr. Michael Saruk has you covered. There is a simple way to get younger-looking skin and it only takes a couple of minutes.

What is Botox?

Most people have heard about Botox, a treatment that uses a purified form of a neurotoxin that temporarily stops certain muscles of the face from contracting. Since the muscles don’t contract it smooths away those lines and wrinkles that you notice when you make facial expressions such as smiling or squinting.

Botox is great for targeting these dynamic wrinkles and can reduce the appearance of crow’s feet, frown lines, forehead wrinkles, and lines around the mouth and chin. Take a moment to smile in the mirror: the wrinkles that appear when you smile are the ones that Botox can address.

What are the benefits of getting Botox?

If you are interested in getting cosmetic dermatology in Wilmington, DE, then chances are good that you are considering whether Botox might be able to give you the results you want. Here are just some of the benefits you’ll enjoy if you choose to get Botox,

It’s quick

Most people lead busy lives and don’t have time to sit in the office for hours, particularly for elective treatments; however, it only takes a few minutes for our Wilmington, DE, skin doctor to administer Botox so you’ll be in and out of the office.

It’s relatively painless

While the idea of needles may not make anyone too happy, these aren’t the needles that you might recognize from getting the flu shot each year or from giving blood. These needles are ultra-thin, so they are barely noticeable when they are administered (you may experience a slight but temporary stinging sensation).

No recovery time

There is no downtime with this treatment. You can even go right back to your normal routine immediately after. Side effects are very minimal and include some redness or tenderness near the injection sites, but they normally subside within a few hours.

You can keep getting Botox

Do you love your new look? If so, you may be a little disappointed to hear that results only last about between three and six months; however, not to worry. You can continue to get maintenance treatments every so often to keep your appearance looking fresh.

Dermatologists help people maintain good skin health, but at Delaware Valley Dermatology Group in Wilmington, DE, Dr.Hair Removal, Botox, Dermal Fillers Michael Saruk and staff also help people achieve their best look! Below are a few of the cosmetic procedures that our patients use to keep their skin not only healthy but beautiful as well.

Hair removal

Shaving to remove unwanted body hair is time-consuming, inaccurate and temporary, not to mention all the various nicks and cuts that inevitably go along with it. With laser hair removal from your Wilmington dermatologist, the distracting hairs that grow under your arms, on your legs, on your stomach or anywhere else can be removed permanently. Using a specialized laser that targets the hair while leaving the surrounding skin untouched, we can make smooth, clear skin a reality!

Botox

Wrinkles are formed by repeated muscle movement after many years. Since the muscles around the eyes and between the forehead are constantly used when smiling, frowning, talking and squinting, deep, noticeable wrinkles can form in these areas. To combat these unwanted signs of aging, your Wilmington cosmetic dermatologist can inject Botox from a tiny, precise needle to these muscles, causing them to stop moving for a few months, allowing your skin to smooth out and leave a much more refreshed and youthful appearance behind.

Dermal fillers

Like Botox, dermal fillers are an injectable, minimally-invasive way to rejuvenate your facial features. However, fillers from your cosmetic dermatologist in Wilmington are used for different purposes in different areas of the face. When the skin ages and the fat beneath it starts to dissipate, it can leave you with unwanted contours, lines and hollow spaces. Fillers "plump" these areas up - most often the lips, lower eyelids, and lines that form between the corners of the nose and mouth - to give you a firmer and more youthful appearance.

If you'd like to learn more about these treatments or any other cosmetic or medical dermatological procedures we offer at Delaware Valley Dermatology Group, contact us in Wilmington, DE to make an appointment today!

Wrinkles can make us appear older than we feel. Lines form around our eyes and forehead, giving us the appearance of being Botox can give you confidenceexhausted or listless. Patients at Delaware Valley Dermatology Group in Wilmington, Delaware who want a solution to this problem often choose Botox, a time-tested and reliable way of eliminating wrinkles and refreshing your look. Here's how Botox in WIlmington can make a difference in your life:

What is Botox?

Botox is derived from a naturally-occurring protein and works by blocking the release of a neurotransmitter that stimulates the muscles to move. This means when your Wilmington dermatologist applies Botox to the "crow's feet" around your eyes or the "worry lines" in your forehead, those muscles are effectively paralyzed for a period of about three to four months. This allows the skin over them to smooth out over a period of days, resulting in a refreshed, younger-looking appearance.

How is Botox applied?

Using a tiny needle, Botox is carefully injected under the skin by our trained dermatology professionals. These areas can be treated with a topical anesthetic to minimize any pain, although the needles are extremely small and not designed to be invasive. After your Botox treatment at Delaware Valley Dermatology Group, you may notice results in as little as 3 days, but it can take up to two weeks before the full effects set in. The goal is to minimize the wrinkles that appear when smiling, frowning or talking.

How long does Botox last?

Within about three to four months, you may see the wrinkles beginning to return around the treatment spots, although each patient's case is unique and may have a shorter or longer duration of effects from Botox. After six months of your last procedure, it is safe to visit your Delaware dermatology provider for another Botox treatment.

If you'd like to see what Botox can do for your appearance and your confidence, give Delaware Valley Dermatology Group a call and ask to set up a consultation with one of our Wilmington providers: Dr. Michael Saruk, Lisa Van Horn, PA, and Raquel Valdez, RN. We look forward to hearing from you!
