Congratulations to Abby on her article discussing hair loss in women

In a recent journal article intended for an audience of primary care healthcare providers, our very own Abby Jacobson, MS, PA-C discussed the often devastating effect of adult female hair loss.

She identified nine different causes of hair loss in women and noted that two were caused by reversible underlying disease. Abby went on to detail each of these and to discuss diagnosis and treatment.

"The editor told me he had a record number of hits/reads the day the article went on-line, said Abby.

People sometimes forget that dermatologists are skilled in disorders affecting the hair. Abby reminds her readers that dermatologists are, in fact, and to keep in mind that it is normal to lose as many as 100 hairs per day. However, hair loss exceeding that should be evaluated. Help is available.
