Botox Can Give You the Confidence You Deserve

Wrinkles can make us appear older than we feel. Lines form around our eyes and forehead, giving us the appearance of being Botox can give you confidenceexhausted or listless. Patients at Delaware Valley Dermatology Group in Wilmington, Delaware who want a solution to this problem often choose Botox, a time-tested and reliable way of eliminating wrinkles and refreshing your look. Here's how Botox in WIlmington can make a difference in your life:

What is Botox?

Botox is derived from a naturally-occurring protein and works by blocking the release of a neurotransmitter that stimulates the muscles to move. This means when your Wilmington dermatologist applies Botox to the "crow's feet" around your eyes or the "worry lines" in your forehead, those muscles are effectively paralyzed for a period of about three to four months. This allows the skin over them to smooth out over a period of days, resulting in a refreshed, younger-looking appearance.

How is Botox applied?

Using a tiny needle, Botox is carefully injected under the skin by our trained dermatology professionals. These areas can be treated with a topical anesthetic to minimize any pain, although the needles are extremely small and not designed to be invasive. After your Botox treatment at Delaware Valley Dermatology Group, you may notice results in as little as 3 days, but it can take up to two weeks before the full effects set in. The goal is to minimize the wrinkles that appear when smiling, frowning or talking.

How long does Botox last?

Within about three to four months, you may see the wrinkles beginning to return around the treatment spots, although each patient's case is unique and may have a shorter or longer duration of effects from Botox. After six months of your last procedure, it is safe to visit your Delaware dermatology provider for another Botox treatment.
